🌱 About

India-focused personal finance education.

A plain-English personal finance education website for Indian students and young professionals — ITR, EPF, PPF, NPS, SIPs, tax planning and budgeting, without the jargon.

SmartFinanceLounge is an India-focused personal finance education website. Our purpose is simple — to take the messy world of Indian money (tax slabs, EPF passbooks, SIP jargon, credit-card fine print) and turn it into honest, in-depth guides that anyone can understand and act on.

We cover the topics that matter for anyone earning, saving or investing in India: Income Tax and ITR (old vs new regime, TDS, Section 80C, 80D, 24, 80CCD), SEBI-regulated products (mutual funds, ELSS, SIPs), retirement pillars (EPF, PPF, NPS, gratuity), RBI-regulated products (savings accounts, FDs, credit cards, home loans), and daily-money topics like UPI, BNPL and CIBIL scores.

Expect three things here: full-length vocabulary guides that finally make finance make sense, India-focused calculators that turn ideas into decisions in ₹, and an Academics path that takes you from beginner to professional at your own pace.

Editorial independence & verification policy

How we keep guides honest.

  • No paid placements. We don't accept money from banks, brokers, fintech apps or asset managers to feature their products.
  • Independent review. Every guide is written by one team member and reviewed by a second qualified reviewer for accuracy and beginner-friendliness before publication.
  • Sources cited. Where we reference numbers, tax slabs, or rates, we link or name the underlying primary source.
  • Education, not advice. We teach frameworks and math — we do not recommend specific products, securities, or providers.
  • Corrections. Spot a factual error? Email us at smartfinancelounge@gmail.com — we review and correct openly.

Educational content only — not personalised investment, tax or legal advice.

Editorial & Review Team

Real people. Verified guidance.

Every guide on SmartFinanceLounge is written by a personal-finance educator and reviewed by a SEBI-registered adviser before publication. We follow a strict editorial-independence policy — no paid product placements, no affiliate-first content.

Aanya Rao
Lead Writer · Personal Finance Educator

Aanya spent her twenties learning personal finance the hard way — three EMIs, one credit-card mess, and a very confused first ITR. She started writing so first-job folks wouldn't have to google 'what is TDS' at 11 pm the night before payroll. She keeps every guide jargon-light and Indian-context specific: real bank names, actual UPI limits, honest numbers in rupees.

Credentials
  • · MBA (Finance), Symbiosis Pune
  • · NISM-Series-XA Investment Adviser (Level 1) certified
  • · 8+ years writing for young Indian earners
Focus

Beginner budgeting, salary decoding, first-job money habits, EPF & PPF explainers.

Vikram Kapoor
Reviewer · SEBI-Registered Investment Adviser

Vikram runs an independent fee-only advisory practice out of Mumbai and has walked hundreds of clients through their first SIP, first term-insurance policy, and first NPS account. He fact-checks the trickier stuff — tax slabs, section 80C limits, ELSS lock-ins, Rule 72 math — so nothing on the site sends readers in the wrong direction. If a number looks off, he's usually the one who caught it.

Credentials
  • · SEBI Registered Investment Adviser (RIA)
  • · CFP-CM (Certified Financial Planner)
  • · 12+ years advising salaried professionals
Focus

Reviews every guide involving tax, investments, insurance, and retirement for factual accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Meera Shah
Editor · Curriculum & Investing

Meera taught personal finance to college students for six years before moving to full-time editing. She's the reason our articles have real examples with real amounts instead of textbook definitions. She also does the boring but important work of updating pages when tax rules or NPS rates change — so a 2024 article doesn't quietly become wrong in 2026.

  • · M.Com, University of Delhi
  • · NISM-Series-VA Mutual Fund Distributor certified
  • · 10+ years in financial education
